BIOSIS Previews
BIOSIS is a comprehensive indexing system for literature in the life sciences. You can do basic keyword and author searches, but the power of the database involves its hierarchy of index terms and concept codes which can be combined for highly precise searching. Coverage is 1969 to date.

ChemFinder
(This search tool is useful for finding quick information on chemicals. You can search by chemical name, CAS Number, molecular formula, or molecular weight. Physical properties, suppliers and regulatory information are included for many compounds.)

CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (Harvard ID and PIN required)

INSPEC
Indexes the literature of physics, electronics and computing, from 1969 to the present. Three levels of searching (quick, advanced and expert) and a thesaurus (essential!) are available. Links to full-text of APS and IOP journals are provided (will work only for Harvard subscribed journals.)

MEDLINE (Harvard ID and PIN required)
1966 to date. Also search freely via PubMed; fewer search options, however

NIST Physical Reference Data

Science Citation Index (Harvard ID and PIN required)
The Institute for Scientific Information’s (ISI) Science Citation Index is a multi-disciplinary index of articles from more than 5000 journals. Search the database for current literature and for subsequent papers that have cited papers of interest. Coverage is from 1945 – to date. Some links to full text of papers provided.

ScienceDirect (Harvard ID and PIN required)
Search more than 600 journals published by Elsevier Science. Harvard does not subscribe to all titles contained within ScienceDirect. Subscribed titles are indicated by a green icon. Coverage for most journals is 1995 – to date. (Note: Harvard has not enabled personal profile functions).
